Exit Options Typical Exit The standard exit follows the creek downstream to its confluence with Kolob Creek. From there, continue hiking down-canyon until you reach the MIA exit trail, which leads you out of the canyon. “Sneak Exit” A lesser‑known alternative exit—informally called the Sneak Exit—has been used for some time. Roughly 500 feet downstream from the final rappel, a climbable side drainage appears on the left. Ascending this drainage leads to the top of a saddle, from which you can hike back toward R1 and retrace your entry route. Fixed ropes are sometimes present on this climb, and in those cases an ascender may be required. Do not rely on these ropes—harsh winter conditions in the area often damage or remove them. If you plan to use the Sneak Exit, it’s recommended to descend the gully from R1 beforehand and install your own fixed lines. When using any ropes in place, ascend cautiously and watch for loose rock. The “Express Exit” has become popular because it is quick, but the steep slope is suffering from noticeable erosion due to heavy foot traffic. Although convenient, it is not the best choice for Leave No Trace practices. Coordinates Start of the cut‑in trail: 37.39419, -112.99597 Top of the gully: 37.39432, -112.99819
