Información
Red Hollow, visited from the bottom, is a popular area hike with some scenic red rock narrows. It can also be descended as a technical route from the top of Glendale Bench. The canyon has several rappels and several good downclimbs. The highlight is the 290ft free-hanging first rappel, which is not for the faint of heart.
Cómo llegar
Shuttle from the Red Hollow Trailhead up to Glendale Bench Road, then south on County Road 2800 to the head of the canyon. Walk an old road until it descends into the watercourse, then walk downcanyon until the large drop that is R1. Along the way there is a pasture area that may hold some water, and a fence beyond that.
Descenso
R1 - 290ft from a tree near the edge. The rappel starts sharply down a vertical cliff and after about 40 feet is entirely free-hanging. R2 - 25ft from a gnarly bush LDC. Could possibly be downclimbed with a partner assist. R3 - 30ft from bolts LDC. R4 - 50ft from bolts RDC. R5 - 15ft from a chockstone in the watercourse.
Retorno
Downclimb through scenic narrows marred by extensive graffiti, then follow the wash to a well-used trail that leads to the trailhead.
