Información
Beginner-friendly canyon. 3 rappel options, 1 is mandatory the others are easily down-climbed (North Fork). A pretty long slot requiring nearly constant stemming with very low penalty points. A great canyon route, but should not be rated higher than average under any rating system.
Cómo llegar
North Fork is recommended for one of the best viewpoints in Capitol Reef National Park, the Overlook.
Descenso
For the North Fork, the first rappel is 100 feet and is easily down-climbed; the second rappel is 25 feet and is easily down-climbed. The only mandatory rappel is the final rappel to exit the slot, which is 98 feet. The final rappel could be down-climbed by a highly skilled climber.
Retorno
Easy peasy. Do some boulder hopping down the mouth of the canyon for 5 minutes, then look for a well-defined trail on the right. Take this trail to the Observation Point Trail you came up on, go left the opposite way that you came. 30 minutes for the exit.
