Engine Creek

A two stage, single rappel in a novelty sandstone waterfall with a pothole near the end of Durango's Upper Cascade Creek. Fix a line, do the rappel, then retrieve your rope and anchor gear.

Park at the top of the Greysill Trail, hike downhill for 25min to Cascade Creek and turn south on the West Cascade Creek Trail for another 20min hike to the bridge over Engine Creek. Assess the waterflow from the bottom, then return back up the West Cascade Creek Trail to the north for a ~hundred feet. Walk a faint trail in the woods to the top of the waterfall and set up anchors there.

R1: 120' rope reaches if using a large tree well upstream from the rappel

After the rappel, return to the top and collect your anchor or fixed line, then return back to your car via the Cascade Creek Trail and Greysill Trail. Stop off on the spur trail to view the 50-Foot-Fall, R8 of Upper Cascade Creek if you'd like.
