Deadman Canyon (Arizona)

This is a dramatic canyon situated deep within the Mazatzal Wilderness. Due largely to the lack of accessibility, a full descent of the North Fork is a highly demanding endeavor and should not be underestimated. Multiple experienced parties have attempted this canyon and been shut down. The recommended itinerary is three days: one for approach, one for descent and exit of the canyon, and one to complete the several mile trek back down the mountain to Barnhardt TH.

About 9 miles from Barnhardt TH to the first rappel.

Multiple large rappels. There are no bolts in the canyon. Be prepared to have to build/rebuild natural anchors. Expect several swims and wades.
