Información
Short but scenic canyon near Zion National Park on the east side; perfect beginner canyon and a nice day if combined with the more challenging Red Cave Slots loop if you are in the Mount Carmel area. For a first-timer this would be a fine introduction to canyoneering. The canyon provides an excellent initiation to stemming, bridging, and down-climbing that will be more exciting with water in potholes. There is virtually no commitment zone with many possible exits; additionally, some rappels can be walked around. While the canyon may be less appealing to seasoned canyoneers given other nearby options, it would be a wonderful inaugural trip for someone just learning about the sport. As all anchors are bolted, it appears this canyon is frequently guided.
Cómo llegar
From the parking area, follow the dirt road about 0.5 miles until it forks to the north. Continue down into the drainage.
Descenso
There are 9 bolted rappel stations. Many can be hand-lined and others can be down-climbed. Note: Rope grooves at the big rappel are worsening. Consider use of a retrievable anchor such as a toggle to avoid exacerbating the grooves.
Retorno
Follow the sandy but well-defined trail up out of the wash and back to your vehicle. Before you exit, however, you may want to consider taking a quick detour to descend The_Hunted_Canyon. It's a fun and quick series of several downclimbs and 1-2 rappels in a narrow slot.
