Elwha River

Summary of route description on Canyoneering Northwest: Grand Canyon of the Elwha: A 2-mile long non technical, swiftwater canyon on the Elwha river first run by two geomorphologists in drysuits doing research in 1987. No waterfalls on the route but swift currents even in low flow. One of the earliest known feats of canyoning activity in Washington. The route has been kayaked, along with another section of the river, Rica Canyon, further down. No further descents without kayaks have been documented.
