Información

A high quality canyon that is mainly a walk-through, no real technical obstacles. The canyon has ben equipped with various stemples and fixe ropes although they are typically not required. Most groups will visit as an out-and-back return walk, heading down the wadi as far as desired then retracing their steps. However, a good 2-day through walk heads to the Feinan windernes camp for the night, then walking out to Dana the following day.

Cómo llegar

A 2WD car should be able to reach the parking area in the wadi at 30.596911865815613, 35.566342175792606. On the drive, you will find a few brown signs pointing the way to the wadi. There is a parking area with a toilet and bedouin tent that operates as a cafe in busier months.

Descenso

There is minimal technical difficulty. From the parking area, walk 20m down into the gravel bed of the wadi, then wander downstream to the first short section of narrows in about 100m as the creek rounds a bend. It's about 1km to where the main section of narrows begin, during which you'll need to route-find through various boulder fields - if you watch-out carefully you should spot various metal arrow signs and paint markings that indicate the easiest way. The narrows are beautiful and last for a few KM: Along the way, you will find various fixed equipment to help overcome obstacles. However, as proof that conditions change dramatically and frequently in canyons, in Jan 2026 most of the stemples were located at simple walking sections - quite surreal to realise that these sections were once climbs but are now flat gravel walking sections. There are a couple of genuine obstacles. At one point a large chockstone has blocked progress down-canyon, here, you can walk to the right and find some stemples and glued-in rocks to act as a ladder. This short cliff can be climbed at roughly Aussie grade 8. You will likely find a few other short drops to negotiate too. If doing an out-and-back return walk, many will turn around at the "Green Oasis" - a lovely lush setting with palm trees, grasses and moss growing along the canyon walls. After the Green Oasis, the walls gradually ease away over the next 1-2km to eventually emerge into a wide valley that leads to Feinan.
