Información

A scenic mini canyon nestled in the heart of Boynton Canyon with a beautiful and engaging approach and a few quality rappels. Best if you can catch it with run-off and great for combining with other local routes. Short, but sweet.

Cómo llegar

KML track starts and ends at the Boynton Canyon Trail. Turn off the main trail, following a small drainage at first, and begin working your way up towards Gordon’s Ridge. You will soon encounter a 20’ class IV climb with solid holds (PG rating). There is a tree at the top to which a rope could be rigged for a handline or belay, if necessary. Scramble up a few sections of low-angle slab as you navigate along the peninsula engulfed by sweeping panoramic views. Arriving at the base of the ridge that looms high above, enter the large bowl and follow the obvious drainage down to a large dead tree. Traverse along the ledge to either R1a or R1b.

Descenso

R1a: 80’ off large tree center canyon, set back from the edge. Easy walk-off intro rap. R1b: 65’ off tree into narrow crack LDC by large ponderosa. This is a unique rappel that lands you in a small alcove, but is not suitable for larger folks and may require you to remove and hang your pack below you. R2: 100’ set high off large tree center canyon. The rap will take a full 100’ rope. Longer pull recommended, but not required. Drop rope straight down to avoid trees. R3: 70’ off tree LDC. Drop rope straight down to avoid trees.
