Información
Note that most of this canyon lies within the Uncompahgre (formally Big Blue) wilderness area. Please practice leave-no-trace techniques if you visit this area, and help keep it pristine. Red Creek is an out and back mostly non-technical hike. Avalanche debris may collect in the canyon in higher snowpack years. An 8-15ft obstacle exists in the canyon. Bringing a short piece of rope, webbing and one harness might be a good idea. Black bears have been seen in this canyon, especially near the mouth, not far from the road. It is an important wildlife migration route to the higher terrain to the east. The waterfalls in the upper regions, listed on the maps, do not engender interesting canyoning routes.
