Ringpin Canyon

According to Rick Ianiello (author of Las Vegas Slots) this is one of the best canyons in Black Canyon area. Proof of this is that commercial companies guide down this canyon. In his book Rick describes Ringpin as a class B, with several cold pools that require a wetsuit and make the canyon exciting. However, as of November 2014 the canyon is completely dry, the potholes have been filled with gravel and it seems to have lost quite a bit of the original appeal.

The approach requires you to drive on a road that is tricky in spots with deep gravel and may require 4WD. Those without a 4WD may try to drive down the first 2 miles, or untill they feel comfortable, and then hike the rest - though there aren't many good places to park along the way.

The descent is straightforward, only 3 rappels with a couple downclimbs.
