Rustler Canyon

Rustler is a short side canyon dropping into Red Rock Canyon, which is used to access canyons across the Yampa in the fall season. Rustler starts with a few downclimbs, then two bigger pitches down a steep headwall, and follows with a series of boulder downclimbs before the canyon opens into the wider Rock Canyon below.

Start at the Parking location at Red Rock Canyon, hike back up the dirt road a short ways, then strike out over the landscape down and up a few side gullies until reaching the drop in.

DC DC R1: 100' off a large log lengthwise in the slot R2: 105' from a rock pinch in the boulders on the shelf. R2 is a narrow rappel around several chockstones. Clear loose rocks at the top before rappelling. DCs a series of downclimbs follow the big rappels down large boulders and through a nice riparian section before opening at the use trails in Red Rock Canyon.
