Sneffels Creek Gorge

Note that this canyon is almost entirely on private property, and is closed. Several parcels cross the canyon, so parts are owned by 3-4 different people and corporations. The biggest owner (including the bulk of the land where the technical section lies) is the Revenue-Virginius Mine Corporation. They have, in recent years, been attempting to reopen mining near this canyon. There have been reports of mine security asking hikers and jeepers to leave their property. Descending this canyon could lead to trespassing charges. This canyon route features big water flow and should not be attempted by anyone who does not have significant swiftwater canyoneering experience.
