Soldier Canyon

A pretty granite slot that is minimally committing, easily accessed, and offers a few short rappels, most or all of which can be bypassed.

Park at the soldier Canyon Trailhead, and hike 1.3 miles up a well-groomed trail to enter the sandy canyon creek bed. This way, no shuttle required, just a 2/3 mile uphill road march at the end.

Short but pretty slot section through polished granite. Boulders of all sizes throughout the canyon provide abundant anchoring options. Likely all drops could be bypassed or downclimbed by skilled canyoneers. Though not necessary, more short rappels could be done. Widespread sand could make this a fun practice ground for sand traps. R1: 2-stage, 65’ rock pinch RDC. Awkward start. R2: 30’ from a nice inspectable cairn R3: 45’ from a tree R4: 15’ from a pinch LDC
